Photo Editor

Godfrey Dadich Partners combines the best of advertising, journalism, identity, and digital to help brands tell better stories. The photo editor is an integral part of the creative team, working to source and produce dynamic imagery for advertising and editorial projects. 

You have a keen eye for strong imagery, are detail-driven, and thrive in a collaborative environment. You have a passion for photography, may consider yourself a photo nerd, and have experience with photo editing and research. You work well on both small, focused projects and on complex, large-scale ones. While you report to the director of photography and work closely with the design department, you are also a self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously. In addition to stellar taste in visuals, you also have strong written and communication skills and have experience negotiating fees and usage terms. You’re well versed in commissioning, producing, and editing shoots, and you’re comfortable working closely with art directors and editors, balancing creative goals with production parameters. You have a diverse network of photographers across many genres and are resourceful when it comes to sourcing new talent for projects. 

The photo editor is an individual with a strong drive for thoroughness and a creative mind. You are eager to jump in on a project to ensure the best possible options are created or sourced, and you enjoy the creative process. The Godfrey Dadich offices are currently closed and the team is fully remote, but ultimately we will return to hybrid and in-person work when it’s safe to do so. This role will be San Francisco-based. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working closely with the director of photography to create dynamic imagery and uphold image standards across the Godfrey Dadich brand.
  • Collaborating with the design and edit teams to help bring their ideas to life through effective and impactful imagery.
  • Sourcing appropriate imagery for the creative team for campaigns, brand IDs, image libraries, social campaigns, pitches, editorial projects, and internal needs.
  • Commissioning original photography for editorial, advertising, and in-house uses.
  • Manage resource lists of photographers and creative partners.
  • Executing proper image organization, naming conventions, and maintaining good file hygiene across all projects. 
  • Creating and presenting mood boards and concepts to the internal team for feedback.
  • Working on the GDP social media team to create content and uphold image standards for the brand. 

Qualifications Include:

  • Previous experience working in a professional photo environment, and/or a degree in a photo-centered field.
  • Well versed in commissioning photo shoots and conducting photo research.
  • Experience licensing artwork and a basic understanding of image rights and usage.
  • Proficient in the essentials of basic photo retouching.
  • A true passion for photography and respect for the art of design.
  • A developed eye for photography, with the ability to evaluate imagery and clearly communicate why and how an image is perceived. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, working within deadlines with good time management skills and the ability to speak up when help is needed.
  • Approaches feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve as an individual and as a team member.
  • Highly collaborative and resourceful, rising to challenging situations with a positive attitude.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Stellar organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated fluency with Adobe Photoshop/Bridge and GSuite products. Slack, Airtable, Keynote, Figma, and Sketch a plus.
