You are a skilled visual storyteller with a natural instinct for how design, typography, and motion draw your audience in and guide them through an engaging experience, no matter the medium. You are happiest when designing dynamic digital experiences; you know how to transform a presentation into a rich, visual narrative; and you love to move into print when the subject matter demands it. Regardless of the project, you bring an inventive spirit to your work, always looking for ways to respond to a brief from a new angle.

We are seeking a multidisciplinary art director with a passion for design-led storytelling. This role will focus primarily on shaping GDP’s own platforms—including our website, presentations, and printed publications. The work will span a range of formats and materials, with each project driven by the particular story and opportunity. Many projects will connect to business development efforts; all of them will help shape GDP’s brand and storytelling efforts.

Godfrey Dadich Partners brings the best of journalism, strategy, and design together into The New Editorial. We believe that telling our own story is a critical part of this work. As art director, special projects, you will collaborate closely with the co-founders and partners to pitch, design, and refine story-driven projects across platforms. 

This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City.  

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive the concepting and execution of projects from brief to launch.
  • Shape and deliver presentations that tell a compelling story, that effectively articulate the concept and convey the strategy or system that underlies a proposed design. This includes building prototypes or motion demos to explain concepts and/or digital flows.
  • Work in lockstep with creative leadership, including designers, writers, engineers, account managers, and strategists to refine and elevate design proposals, recommendations, and solutions.
  • Work closely with the partners and co-founders to generate communications systems for, by, and about Godfrey Dadich Partners, including owned, social, and live-event platforms.

Qualifications include:

  • 4-7 years experience in a design or editorial environment; however, less experienced candidates with advanced portfolios should also apply.
  • Highly collaborative and resourceful. A self-starter who proactively sets benchmarks, seeks out information, and aligns expectations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to accessibility, motion design, and especially typography (type hierarchy, character and line spacing, composition, glyphs, and readability).
  • Ability to manage projects in conjunction with the project manager, work under pressure and tight deadlines, be mindful of project scopes and budget.
  • Demonstrated fluency with design tools, including the full suite of Adobe Creative Cloud. Familiarity with Figma design and prototyping is a plus. Competency working in Keynote and GSuite products. Motion prototyping skills in AfterEffects and/or Cinema 4D is a strong plus.
